MISSION STATEMENT

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The doctoral program in physical education is designed to prepare individuals for academic positions in departments of physical education/kinesiology at universities and colleges. Research, scholarship, and leadership opportunities will be emphasized throughout the course of the program. Upon completion of the program, individuals should be prepared to assume leadership positions within the field.
PROGRAM EXPECTATIONS
Teaching:
Funded graduate students will serve as GTA's who will work with faculty members to instruct undergraduate courses in the health & physical education program. All experiences are faculty supervised.
Scholarship:
Throughout the program, doctoral students will have numerous opportunities to submit research manuscripts for publication and peer reviewed presentation abstracts. These opportunities will be pursued in conjuncture with program faculty.
Service:
Students will be expected to be engaged in the university and professional community in a number of ways throughout their doctoral education.

FINANCIAL AIDE AND EMPLOYMENT
Graduate teaching assistantships are available. These positions are highly competitive. GTAs will teach undergraduate health & physical education coursework while assisting with program faculty research.
